Hi, I'm glad you found us
I'm a stay-at-home mom to seven kids and wife to a hardworking man who provides for this family the old-fashioned way — he works, he hunts, he fishes. We live traditionally, we say what we mean, and we don't sugarcoat much.
This blog is just me sharing what we do every day — cooking from scratch, growing a garden, making herbal remedies, preserving food, and getting outside as much as we can. We also have 2 dogs and 2 cats who are very much part of the chaos.
I'm not a chef, I'm not a professional anything. I'm a mom who figured things out because I want to feed a lot of people on a real budget with real ingredients. If it works in my kitchen with children underfoot, it'll work in yours.
How we live
From scratch, always
We cook real food with whole ingredients. No shortcuts, no processed stuff. That's just how it's done around here.
Traditional family life
My husband provides, I keep the home. It works for us and we're not apologizing for it.
The outdoors feeds us
Hunting and fishing aren't hobbies — they're how we fill the freezer. The kids grow up knowing exactly where their food comes from.
Plants over pills
We reach for the garden before the medicine cabinet. Salves, tinctures, teas — we make what we need.
The crew
Nine of us total. My husband goes to work, comes home, and then heads out to hunt or fish depending on the season. He keeps the freezer full and the family taken care of. I'm home running the show — the kitchen, the garden, the kids, the animals.
Seven kids means it's never quiet and never boring. They help in the garden, they taste everything, they argue about who gets the last biscuit. It's a full house and we love it.
